Today's Historical Moment from Our Flag
December 7th, 1941 ... "a date which will live in infamy" ...
Just as students'
parents and grandparents vividly remember the tragedy of 9/11 and how Americans stood United with Our Flag in mourning and motivation to never let such an attack occur again, our great-grandparents, America's Greatest Generation, endured the attack on Pearl Harbor and the ensuing 4-plus years of fighting in World War II.  The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor damaged or destroyed nearly 20 American naval ships, over 300 aircraft, and killed more 2,300 military service members and civilians.  This invasion brought America into World War II, a war in which more than 16 million Americans served in the armed forces and approximately 405,000 died.
