Today's Pre-Pledge Tribute recalls ...
[ public domain image of Richard Henry Lee ]
On this date, June 7th of 1776, Richard Henry Lee, a Second Continental Congress delegate from Virginia, proposed the Lee Resolution. The Lee Resolution (aka The Resolution for Independence), which was approved on July 2, 1776, led to the Declaration of Independence - which essentially proclaimed and explained the Lee Resolution for all to know. The Lee Resolution stated that the 13 Colonies in America were "free and independent States" - separated from Great Britain to create the United States of America.

And, now it's time to say the Pledge of Allegiance.
Students across the USA, honoring the Founding Father whose resolution led the colonies to declare our independence, please, join each other in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.
Thanks for being part of today's Pre-Pledge of Allegiance Tribute.
