35 years ago, in the summer of 1985, my Army dad was assigned to Ft McPherson in Atlanta, Georgia for this twilight (retirement) tour of duty. One of the first events we checked-out in the area was the Stone Mountain Laser Show. At that time, it was only in its 3rd year of mesmerizing, laser-animated shows. From that show so long ago, the song and images that still stick with me today and made my 16 year-old heart swell with American Pride was Lee Greenwood's 'God Bless the USA.' Of course, my favorite verse is highlighted in the pictured quote at the top of this page.
