... In Pennsylvania, all STATE Flags are half-staff ...
... And, in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, special locations in Massachusetts, Columbia, South Carolina, Washington, D.C. and San Diego, California all Flags are half-staff ...
All of these half-staffs, except in Texas, honor coronavirus victims

Today's Story from Our Flag
... answers, "Which colony declared independence from Great Britain first?" ...
Picture
On this date, May 4, in 1776, the General Assembly (congress) for the colony of Rhode Island rejected its allegiance (loyalty or obedience or following) to Great Britain and its ruler King George III.  This meant Rhode Island was the first of the 13 colonies to declare its independence (freedom) from the rules of the British.  This action was one of many key steps to America, and all its 13 colonies, creating the Declaration of Indepedence two months later in Philadelphia.
