Unfortunately, ... there were 6 first responders who died in the line of duty in the last week. The 3 fallen police officers were Officer Kenneth Lester of the Richmond Police Department in Indiana (died from complications of car crash 25 years later), Lieutenant Shirley Lanning of the Canadian County Sheriff's Office in Oklahoma (died in car crash), and Officer David Kellywood of the White Mountain Apache Tribal Police in Arizona (shot and killed).
And, the three fallen firefighters were Fort Hancock Fire Chief Manuel Galindo Jr. in Texas (fire truck crash), Fire Captain Raymond Figueroa and Firefighter Patrick Jones (died fighting blaze at library) of the Porterville Fire Department in California.
We honor and thank these patriots for serving and protecting their communities.
