The orders from the State Governor's regarding their state's half-staff proclamations read:
In Kentucky, Gov. Matt Bevin has proclaimed that U.S. and state flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise on Wednesday, April 4 until sunset on Thursday, April 5 as a mark of respect for fallen Hopkinsville Police Department Officer Phillip Meacham.
"There is no greater sacrifice than that of a person willing to lay down their life for another," said Gov. Bevin. "We are grateful for the 'Thin Blue Line,' and urge Kentuckians to join us in honoring the life of Officer Meacham."
Officer Meacham was killed while off-duty Thursday evening in Hopkinsville after being pulled over by a man impersonating a police officer. He leaves behind a wife and nine-year-old daughter
Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has ordered that the United States flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from sunrise to sunset, in honor of the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in the Commonwealth, on the day of the 50th anniversary of his tragic death.
In Connecticut, U.S. and state flags have been lowered to half-staff in honor of Connecticut State Police Trooper First Class Kevin M. Miller, who was killed Thursday afternoon in a motor vehicle accident while on duty. Trooper First Class Miller served with the Connecticut State Police for 19 years and was assigned to Troop C in Tolland. Flags will remain at half-staff until sunset on Friday, April 6th.
