It's estimated that less than 5% of Americans know the significance of May 15th, or why our Congress enacted it and Presidents have proclaimed it a National Half-Staff day each year since 1963.
USA has 4 National Half-Staff Days it recognizes each year - Patriot Day (9/11), Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day (12/7), _____ _______ ________ ___ (5/15), and Memorial Day (last Monday in May).
This year and every year going forward, take a moment to respect Police Officers Memorial Day (POMD) on May 15th - a day commemorating the more than 21,000 Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty.
Flag Steward, a good citizen education program, distributed by the GivingVue nonprofit to schools, businesses and homes, is taking action to raise the awareness of Police Officers Memorial Day. Flag Steward is calling out Americans to #HonorPOMD (#HonorPoliceOfficersMemorialDay) by doing #Pullups4FallenOfficers And by doing so, you might just be able to #GetOutOfATicket (#GOOAT) by showing off your participation in this #HonorPOMD awareness campaign ;)
For the 6 weeks leading up to Peace Officers Memorial Day, from April 3rd to May 15th, our #Pullups4FallenOfficers to #HonorPOMD goals are:
Goal 1) At least 21,541* pullups by citizens across the USA = 1-pullup and fallen Peace Officer's name proclaimed for all 21,541* recognized Law Enforcement Officer Line of Duty Deaths
Goal 2) On May 15, at least 1 million Americans taking a moment to recognize and reflect upon those that have died while serving and protecting us in our communities

Goal 3) On May 15, at least 25 schools perform a Peace Officers Memorial Day Flag ceremony**

Goal 4) And, lastly, print-out at least 1,000 #GetOutOfATicket (#GOOAT) coupons*** for #Pullups4FallenOfficers challengers to showcase to law enforcement officers when needed ;)

Enough babbling ... It's time to do #Pullups4FallenOfficers to ensure more citizens #HonorPOMD this May 15th! See the first #Pullups4FallenOfficers Challenge video at the bottom of this page.
It's a simple 4-step process:
1)Plan how many pullups you will do
2)Go to http://FlagSteward.org/Fallen-Officer-databases and choose a fallen officer database to select the name(s) of the fallen Peace Officer(s) to whom you're dedicating your pullups
3)Call out each fallen Law Enforcement Officer's name before or after your pullups set or at the top or bottom of each pullup
4)After completing your (dead hang, no swinging) #Pullups4FallenOfficers, issue a challenge to a friend … “Jim / Jane, I challenge you to do #Pullups4FallenOfficers to #HonorPeaceOfficersMemorialDay / #HonorPOMD, make a tax-deductible donation of $1 for each pullup and fallen Peace Officer you commemorated at FlagSteward.org/#Pullups4FallenOfficers**** and print your #GetOutOfATicket / #GOOAT coupon and stow it in your car for that special occasion ;)"
**** = Donations will be split into 3 categories:
a) 1/3 of donations will go towards evaluating and fulfilling police department grant requests for better police officer equipment and training,
b) 1/3 of donations will go towards Flag Steward enabling fallen officer ‘End of Watch Commemorations’ dedicated at public venue flagpoles (schools, stadiums, libraries, etc.) to inform and inspire citizens, and
c) 1/3 of donations will be used to promote and encourage students and staff to lead Peace Officers Memorial Day flag ceremonies and other Police Week activities at their school.
