But, if #FlagDayFriday doesn't fit within your morning schedule, you're welcome to GO HERE to perform this week's Pre-Pledge Ceremony on any day of the week.]
Today's Flag Status

Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer ordered flags to be flown at half-staff until sun-down Friday, March 30, 2018 to honor the life of civil rights icon, Linda Brown, who as a young girl was the center of the landmark case Brown v. Board of Education, in which the Supreme Court declared the segregationist doctrine of "separate but equal" to be unconstitutional. "Linda Brown's life reminds us that by standing up for our principles and serving our communities we can truly change the world. Linda's legacy is a crucial part of the American story and continues to inspire the millions who have realized the American dream because of her."
In Georgia, the U.S. and State Flags will fly at half-staff until sunset on March 29th to honor former Governor and U.S. Senator Zell Miller. He was a US Marine veteran who became Georgia's Governor and U.S. Senator.
[*Note: In Missouri, all flags at all State and government offices will be flown at half-staff, in the County of St. Louis from sunrise on March 22 until sunset on March 30, 2018, to commemorate the life of Cloria Brown, a Missouri state legislature Representative, who died while in office.]
[**Note 2: Also, by order of the Missouri Governor, all flags at all State and government offices will be flown at half-staff, in the counties of Cass, Clay, Jackson, Platte, Audrain, Boone and Cole until sunset on March 30, 2018 to honor FBI Special Agent Melissa Morrow.]

Today's Moment to Remember
On March 29, 1973, the last U.S. troops left Vietnam - ending a 12-year presence and war campaign to keep South Vietnam free of North Vietnam communist rule. At its end, 2.7 million military personnel had served in the Vietnam War and more than 58,300 died there.
Finally, today, after being put into law by the Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017, we celebrate the inaugural Vietnam War Veterans Day.
So, today, and frankly whenever you meet a Vietnam War Veteran, make sure you say, "Welcome Home." Unfortunately, due to the unpopularity of the war, military service members were not shown the proper respect and appreciation they deserved upon returning to the United States. We can't fix that wrong 50 years later, but we can at least show them the love they deserve for serving our country faithfully and admirably.

Flag Steward initiated a last minute social media campaign to recognize the inaugural Vietnam War Veterans Day. You can find it HERE.
We'll re-launch this campaign with more lead-time next year.
