The 6th U.S. Congress was the first?
Pictured above is the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., in 1800. On November 17th of 1800, the first session of Congress, actually named the 6th U.S. Congress, was held in the new Capitol building in D.C.. One of the most well-known laws (legislation) that the 6th U.S. Congress passed was the act to put Washington, D.C. under the control of the U.S. Congress - establishing 2 counties to manage the District of Columbia and its residents.
