How did TN get its name?:
Like its neighboring state, Kentucky, the origin of Tennessee's name is not certain. But, researchers believe it comes from a Native American Cherokee tribe word meaning "meeting place" or "winding river." The first known written record of the name that became Tennessee was from Spanish explorer Captain Juan Pardo in 1567 - naming the Native American village they passed through in this area as "Tanasqui"

1) Great Smoky Mountains National Park
- one of America's most visited National Parks with some of the highest mountains east of the Mississippi River, including Mount Le Conte (the peak from which the picture below was taken)

2) Ryman Auditorium (bettern known as Grand Ole Opry House)
- this 2,362-seat live events venue was the home of the Grand Ole Opry show from 1943 to 1974. It played a big part in the spread of country music beyond the southeastern states of America

3) Graceland
- is the famous former home of Elvis Presley, known by many as the King of Rock-n-Roll. The mansion, owned by Elvis' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, and declared a National Historic Landmark, is about 10 miles outside of Memphis, TN, and is the 3rd most visited house in the US (after the Biltmore Estate and White House).
