During this week, in which we celebrate conservation by honoring Earth Day and John Muir's birthday, it's proper to set aside some time to keep America beautiful. Below are a list of small and big things you can do to improve America and our planet's outlook.

Try to do 2 - 3 of the items, below this week and for the next few weeks, to make it a habit / part of your living routine:
-Bag your groceries in reusable bags
-Cut down on your car emissions by biking to work or to do some errands
-Walk to visit your friend(s) instead of driving
-Ensure you separate recyclables from your trash and put them out for pick-up
-Go around and check to make sure your home is only using energy efficient light bulbs
-Conserve water by turning off your shower while you lather up with soap and shampoo
-Plant a small tree in your yard
- Pick-up a couple pieces of trash from outside each day
(Yes, this is something I've mentioned since Flag Steward began, sometimes as part of my closing 'keep America beautiful' statement. While out for my 3-4 times per week run or walking our dogs each day, I pick-up at least 2 pieces of trash to clean up my community)
