... recalls the birth of an entertainment icon ...

On this date, September 24, in 1936, the Muppets creator, Jim Henson (1936 - 1990) was born.  Some of his most famous entertainment work centered around creating characters like Kermit the Frog, Bert and Ernie, and more.  His characters entertained and educated generations of children via Sesame Street on PBS and the Muppets productions on TV and in movie theaters.
