Today, we honor and will never forget the American troops who never returned home from war.  In 1979, Congress designated this day, the third Friday of September, as "POW/MIA Recognition Day" (Prisoner of War / Missing in Action Recognition Day).  According to the latest Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency counts, there are more than 81,900 missing from WWII (72,579), the Korean War (7,678), the Vietnam War (1,586), the Cold War (126), and the Gulf Wars/other conflicts (5).  
Please, Take a moment today to honor our POW/MIA by watching one of 2 ceremony broadcasts, from the Pentagon or Hawaii, by the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) or review some profiles of POW/MIA personnel we're still searching for.
