Today's Story from Our Flag
Picture
400 years ago, on September 16th, in 1620, the Mayflower ship with 102 Pilgrims (aka English Puritans) aboard set sail from Plymouth, England to go settle in Virginia of the New World.  To celebrate this event, September 16 has been established as Mayflower Day.
Unfortunately, stormy weather and rough seas stirred the ship off course and, after a 66-day voyage, the Mayflower reached Cape Cod, Massachusetts instead.  The bad weather kept them from trying to go to the north or south, so they sailed west across the bay and settled at Plymouth, Massachusetts in November of 1620.
