Today's Historical Moment from Our Flag
I was a Founding Father, VA delegate at the Second Continental Congress, and close ally of Thomas Jefferson
I'm nicknamed "Father of the Constitution" and served as the fourth President of the United States
I co-wrote The Federalist Papers with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay to help ratify (approve) the US Constitution

Lastly, I was the author of the Bill of Rights
Lastly, I was the author of the Bill of Rights
That's right, I'm James Madison
And, on this date, June 8th of 1789, I introduced 12 amendments to the US Contistution. These amendments focused on restricting the federal government's powers and empowering citizens with protections like freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the right to assemble peacefully. Ten of these 12 amendments were approved, added to the US Constitution in December of 1791, and became known as the Bill of Rights.

Today's Insightful Quote from Our Flag
"In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men,
you must first enable the government to control the governed;
and in the next place oblige it to control itself."
