Today's Historical Moment from Our Flag
... tells us about a little known day of fun and celebration called ...

National Trails Day
On the first Saturday in June, National Trails Day is celebrated.  It was started by the American Hiking Society, a Maryland-based nonprofit, in the 1970s to encourage Americans to get out and enjoy America's beauty.  And, over the years, I've tried to do the same with my family and friends.  Below are a sample of the many hikes, these showing many hikes to mountaintops (14ers in Colorado and Yosemite Valley peaks),  from the past 10+ years.
Today's Insightful Quotes from Our Flag

"In every walk with nature,
one receives far more than he seeks."

- John Muir

And, now it's time to ...
Recite the Pledge of Allegiance
Students across America, at school or at home, motivated to get out and take a hike on National Trails Day, please unite and recite the Pledge.
