Today's Historical Moment from Our Flag
Picture

I was born, on this date, in 1895, in Baltimore, Maryland

[ Pic of 1912 baseball team for St. Mary's Industrial School for Boys]

In 1914, I started out as a professional pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles and then the Boston Red Sox

I pitched a record 29 and 2/3 innings of shutout baseball during the 1918 World Series - the third World Championship with the Red Sox and one of my proudest records
Picture
My first and middle names were George Herman, but I earned a special 'youngster' nickname for being so new to the sport and traveling

In 1919, I was sold to the New York Yankees and became a home run hitting machine - setting up what became known as the 'Curse of the Bambino' on the Red Sox team

Do you know who I am, yet?

That's right, I'm George Herman "Babe" Ruth Jr.

I was part of the NY Yankees 1927 line-up called "Murderers' Row" because no one could keep us from hitting and winning.

Today's Inspirational Quotes from Our Flag

"The way a team plays as a whole determines its success.
You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world,
but if they don't play together, the club won't be worth a dime."

- Babe Ruth

"Every strike brings me closer to the next home run." :)
