On this date, April 15th in 1865, 9 hours after being shot by John Wilkes Booth, President Lincoln died.
There would have been more Union leaders killed by John Wilkes Booth, but his plans to kill General Ulysses S. Grant, Vice President Andrew Johnson, and Secretary of State William Seward, were derailed by chance and heroism. General Grant was suppose to be with Lincoln at Ford's Theatre that night, but he decided to go see his kids instead. And, thankfully, courageous Henry Rathbone, who did go to the play with Lincoln, tried to tackle Booth, but was stabbed and started the chase to catch Booth.

Today's Fun from Our Flag
Ben Franklin says death and taxes are certain, but do you know the difference between them?
Death doesn't get worse every time Congress meets. ;)
