How did NE get its name?:
Nebraska got its name from the Omaha (Native American tribe) word Ní Btháska, which means "flat water." They Omaha tribe was referring to the Platte River which runs slowly through the state from west to east.

The Cornhusker State
Note: To understand how they got the nickname, all you have to do is drive through the state and you'll see all the corn fields and get it. :)
