On this date, August 25, of 1916, the National Park Service was created by our Congress' National Park Service Organic Act. The National Park Service (NPS) is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior. And, in case you didn't hear, the National Parks are going to get a well-deserved injection of love (government funds) to improve them. Congress passed, and on August 4th, of this year, and the President signed the
Great American Outdoors Act.
"This law (congressional bill) will restore, conserve, and protect America’s lands. It will provide the necessary funds, up to $1.9 billion per year for five years, to pay for maintenance projects for the National Park Service, as well as, the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the Bureau of Indian Education. This will ensure that Americans can go out, explore, and enjoy our most important national treasures - the American Outdoors."
