Today's #NeverForgottenFriday Commemoration
Unfortunately, there were three soldiers who died in Global War on Terror combat zones this past week. U.S. Army Sergeant First Class (SFC) Antonio Rodriguez, 28, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and SFC Javier Gutierrez, 28, of San Antonio, TX of the 3/7 Special Forces Group out of Florida were killed in action on Feb. 8th. These Green Berets were shot during an insider (green-on-blue) attack in Afghanistan.
Also, Army Specialist (SPC) Branden Kimball, 21, of Oregon, died of a non-combat incident on Feb. 12th while serving in Afghanistan with a unit from Fort Drum, New York

Sadly, ... there were 5 first responders who died in the line of duty in the last week. The 2 fallen police officers were Deputy Donna Richardson-Below of the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office in Louisiana (died in car crash) and NYPD (New York Police Department) Officer von Seydewitz (died of 9/11-related illness).
And, the three fallen firefighters were Firefighter Jones of the Milwaukee Fire Department in Wisconsin (died of work-related illness), Willow Firefighter DeLongchamp in Alaska (died of work-related illness) and West Metro Firefigther Moran in Colorado (died of work-related cancer).
We honor and thank these patriots for serving and protecting their communities.

Half-Staff Alerts & Honorees for February 14
All Flags across FLORIDA (FL: on Feb. 14): Florida Governor ordered all Flags at all state facilities to half-staff, from sunrise to sunset, on Fri., Feb. 14, the date of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Remembrance Day (Parkland, FL high school), as a mark of respect for the victims of the shooting two years ago. All Flags across NEW YORK (NY: on Feb. 14): NY Governor ordered all Flags at all state facilities to half-staff, from sunrise to sunset, on Fri., Feb. 14, in honor of Spc. Branden Tyme Kimball, a Fort Drum Soldier who died in Afghanistan on Wednesday. CLICK HERE to see the Flag order.
All Flags across NEVADA (NV: until Feb. 14): NV's Governor ordered, at 1305 PST on Wed., Feb. 12, all Flags atop the Capitol and state facilities, to half-staff immediately on Wed., Feb. 12, until sunset on Fri., Feb. 14, as a mark of respect and remembrance of former Lt. Governor and Reno's former Mayor Bob Cashell, who dedicated decades of his life to serving Nevada. CLICK HERE to see the Governor's Flag order.
All Flags across NORTH CAROLINA (NC: Feb. 10 - 16): NC's Governor ordered, via emailed alert received at 1400EST today, all Flags at state facilities, to half-staff immediately on Mon., Feb. 10, until sunset on Sun., Feb. 16, in honor of Sgt. Javier Jaguar Gutierrez, who lost his life during an attack in Afghanistan. Sgt. Gutierrez, who was born in Jacksonville, North Carolina, was stationed at Fort Bragg before his assignment to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. All Flags at West Metro Fire & Rescue buildings, COLORADO (CO: until Feb. 18): West Metro Fire & Rescue leaders, and other Fire Departments across the state are joining them, assumedly with approval from and authority of the CO Governor, ordered all Flags at their facilities, to half-staff until sunset on Tue., Feb. 18, the date of his interment, in honor of West Metro Fire & Rescue Firefigther / Paramedic Dan Moran, who died of a line of duty related cancer recently. City Flags in the City of Washougal, WASHINGTON (WA: until TBD): City of Washougal's Mayor ordered the City Flag at city buildings to half-staff until the date of his interment (TBD), to honor former mayor and passionate public servant George “Jeff” Guard (2002-2005) who passed away on February 4, 2020. All Flags in the City of Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA (CA: until Feb. 24): City of Los Angeles' Mayor, assumedly with authority and approval of the CA Governor, ordered all Flags at city buildings to half-staff until the date of the memorial service for all the victims on Feb. 24, at the Staples Center, in honor of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and all of the victims in Sunday's (Jan. 26) tragic helicopter crash.
