Half-Staff Alerts & Honorees for February 8
All Flags across WISCONSIN (WI: until Feb. 8): WI Governor ordered, within the email alert received at 1803 on Fri., Feb. 7, all (US & State) Flags at all state facilities to half-staff, immediately, until sunset, on Sat., Feb. 8, the date of his interment as a Mark of Respect for Firefighter Darrin Jones of the Milwaukee Fire Department, who died from a line of duty related illness on Feb. 1. All Flags atop West Virginia Capitol Complex and across Logan County, WEST VIRGINIA (WV: on Feb. 8): WV Governor ordered all Flags atop the State Capitol and at state facilities across Logan County to half-staff, from sunrise to sunset, on Sat., Feb. 8, the date of his interment in remembrance of former member of the WV House of Delegates Ted Ellis. All Flags atop South Dakota State Capitol buildings, SOUTH DAKOTA (SD: on Feb. 8): South Dakota Governor ordered all Flags atop the State Capitol to half-staff, from sunrise to sunset, on Sat., Feb. 8, the date of his interment to honor the life of Bernie Christenson, a former state leader and legislator. All Flags at Florida State Highway Patrol buildings, FLORIDA (FL: until TBD): Florida State Highway Patrol HQ leaders', assumedly with approval from and authority of the FL Governor, ordered all Flags at FL State Highway Patrol facilities, to half-staff until sunset on the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Florida State Highway Patrol Trooper Joseph Bullock, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Wed., Feb. 5. All Flags across City of Kimberly, ALABAMA (AL: until Feb. 10): Kimberly's Mayor, with approval from and authority of the AL Governor, ordered all Flags at city facilities, to half-staff until sunset on Mon., Feb. 10, the date of his interment, in honor of Kimberly Police Department Officer Nick O'Rear, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Wed., Feb. 5. All Flags across Liberty County, TEXAS (TX: until TBD): TX Governor approved Liberty County's order for all Flags across Liberty County, and authorized other Texas counties and cities to join the tribute by lowering their Flags, to half-staff until sunset on the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of the life and public service of Liberty County Deputy Richard Whitten, who died from complications of a gunshot wound sustained in the line of duty last year. All Flags across Harford County, MARYLAND (MD: Feb. 7-10): Harford County officials, assumedly with authority and approval of the MD Governor, ordered all Flags at county buildings to half-staff, from sunrise on Fri., Feb. 7, to sunset on Mon., Feb. 10, in honor of two deputies, Senior Deputy Dailey and Deputy Logsdon, killed in line of duty on Feb. 10, 2016. All Flags in the City of Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA (CA: until TBD): City of Los Angeles' Mayor, assumedly with authority and approval of the CA Governor, ordered all Flags at city buildings to half-staff until the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and all of the victims in Sunday's (Jan. 26) tragic helicopter crash.
