Today's Moment to Remember
Fellow Flag Stewards:
For the next 4 to 6 weeks, until the beginning or middle of March, I will be focusing my efforts on redesigning and improving Flag Steward's Pre-Pledge Tribute to better serve student-citizens, particularly 5th-8th graders. During this time, I will continue to publish America's most Honorable, Accurate, and Complete Half-Staff alerts. But, there is no daily historical review today nor will there be in the coming weeks.

PS - I'm a one-man nonprofit show whose passion and purpose for Flag Steward has always been to build more informed, inspired, patriotic student-citizens, so I hope you understand this re-prioritization plan ;)

Half-Staff Alerts & Honorees for February 6
All Flags across City of Kimberly, ALABAMA (AL: until TBD): Kimberly's Mayor, assumedly with approval from and authority of the AL Governor, ordered all Flags at city facilities, to half-staff until sunset on the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Kimberly Police Department Officer Nick O'Rear, who was shot and killed in the line of duty on Wed., Feb. 5. All Flags across Liberty County, TEXAS (TX: until TBD): TX Governor approved Liberty County's order for all Flags across Liberty County, and authorized other Texas counties and cities to join the tribute by lowering their Flags, to half-staff until sunset on the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of the life and public service of Liberty County Deputy Richard Whitten, who died from complications of a gunshot wound sustained in the line of duty last year. All Flags across NAVAJO NATION (NN: Feb. 3-6): Navajo Nation's President ordered all Flags across Navajo Nation to half-staff, from sunrise on Tue., Feb. 3, to sunset on Thu., Feb. 6, the date of his interment at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, to honor the life and memory of Navajo Code Talker Joe Vandever, Sr., a World War II Marine Corps veteran and Congressional Silver Medal recipient, who passed away recently at 96. All Flags across City of Corpus Christi, TEXAS (TX: until Feb. 6): TX Governor approved Corpus Christi Mayor's order for all Flags across Corpus Christi, and authorized other Texas counties and cities to join the tribute by lowering their Flags, to half-staff until sunset on Thu., Feb. 6, the date of his interment, in honor of Corpus Christi Police Officer Alan McCollum. All Flags in the City of Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA (CA: until TBD): City of Los Angeles' Mayor, assumedly with authority and approval of the CA Governor, ordered all Flags at city buildings to half-staff until the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and all of the victims in Sunday's (Jan. 26) tragic helicopter crash.
