​Today's Moment to Remember
Fellow Flag Stewards:
For the next 4 to 6 weeks, until the beginning or middle of March, I will be focusing my efforts on redesigning and improving Flag Steward's Pre-Pledge Tribute to better serve student-citizens, particularly 5th-8th graders.  During this time, I will continue to publish America's most Honorable, Accurate, and Complete Half-Staff alerts.  But, there is no daily historical review today nor will there be in the coming weeks.

All Flags across VIRGINIA (VA: on Feb. 3): Virginia's Governor ordered all Flags at state buildings throughout the state to half-staff, from sunrise to sunset, on Mon., Feb. 3, in respect and memory of Newport News Police Officer Katherine M. “Katie” Thyne, of Newport News, Virginia.  CLICK HERE to see the Governor's Flag order.

All Flags across City of Corpus Christi, TEXAS (TX: until TBD): TX Governor approved Corpus Christi Mayor's order for all Flags across Corpus Christi, and authorized other Texas counties and cities to join the tribute by lowering their Flags, to half-staff until sunset on the date of his interment (TBD), in honor of Corpus Christi Police Officer Alan McCollum.  CLICK HERE to see info on this Flag tribute.  GO HERE to read the Governor's Flag order approval.

All Flags across NORTH CAROLINA (NC: Jan. 27 - Feb. 4): NC's Governor ordered all Flags at state buildings throughout North Carolina to half-staff, from sunrise on Mon., Jan. 27, to sunset, on Tue., Feb. 4, the date of his interment, in honor of Army Specialist (SPC) Antonio I. Moore, who lost his life in an accident while carrying out operations in Syria. A Wilmington native, Spc. Moore had been assigned to the 363rd Engineer Battalion, 411th Engineer Brigade based in Knightdale, NC.  CLICK HERE to see the Governor's Flag order.  [Note on Fri., Jan. 31, NC Gov. extended half-staff to Tue., Feb. 4]

All Flags across City of West Hollywood, CALIFORNIA (CA: until Feb. 3): West Hollywood Mayor, assumedly with the approval and authority of the CA Governor, ordered all Flags at City of West Hollywood facilities to half-staff until sunrise on Monday, Feb. 3, morning, in honor of Jeanne Dorbin, the "Grand Dame of WeHo" (WeHo = West Hollywood), who died recently at the age of 99.  CLICK HERE to see info on this Flag tribute.

All Flags across Sangamon County and City of Springfield, ILLINOIS (IL: until Feb. 3): County and City officials, assumedly with the approval and authority of the IL Governor, ordered all Flags at Sangamon County buildings and City of Springfield facilities to half-staff until sunset on Mon., Feb.3, the date of their interment, in honor of Springfield's former Mayor Frank Edwards and Sangamon County's coroner, Cinda Edwards, who died in a place crash on Jan. 30.  CLICK HERE to see info on this Flag tribute.
