Sadly, ... there were 6 first responders who died in the line of duty recently. The 3 fallen police officers were Deputy Sheldon Whiteman of the Long County Sheriff's Office in Georgia (police car crash), Officer Katie Thyne of the Newport News Police Department in Virginia (struck & dragged by assailant's vehicle), and Major Angelanette Moore of the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail (heart attack after jail shakedown).
And, the 3 fallen firefighters, Capt. Ian H. McBeth of Great Falls, Montana; First Officer Paul Clyde Hudson of Buckeye, Arizona; and Flight Engineer Rick A. DeMorgan Jr. of Navarre, Florida, were flying a C-130 firefighting aircraft that crashed while helping to fight the massive fires in Australia.
We honor and thank these patriots for serving and protecting their communities.
