Today's Moment to Remember
... Happy Birthday to one of our lesser known, but equally important Founding Fathers ...

On this date, December 12, in 1745 (of the Julian Calendar), John Jay was born in New York, British America.  This under-appreciated Founding Father has a list of notable accomplishments - including:
1) He signed the Treaty of Paris of 1783 that officially ended the American Revolutionary War
2) He was appointed by George Washingto to be our first Chief Justice of the U.S.
3) He was the second Governor of New York
and, perhaps most important of all ...
4) He was 1 of 3 Federalist Papers authors - along with Alexander Hamilton and James Madison he helped inform state delegats of the benefits of approving the U.S. Constitution
