Today's #NeverForgottenFriday Commemoration
Unfortunately, there were two soldiers who died in the line of duty recently - one while serving in a Global War on Terror (GWOT) combat zone and one serving at Fort Hood, Texas. Sergeant First Class (SFC), an 82nd Airborne paratrooper, Elis Barreto Ortiz of Morovis, Puerto Rico was killed by a terrorist car bomb near the U.S. embassy in Afghanistan on Sep., 5th. He is survived by his wife, two sons, and a daughter. And, Prviate First Class (PFC) Mason Webber, of Marion, Iowa, was accidently killed while performing maintenance on a combat vehicle at Fort Hood, Texas. Webber had been a Bradley Fighting Vehicle system maintainer with the 4th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since August 2018.

Thankfully, there were no first responder (police or firefighter) line-of-duty deaths reported recently. This the first time in more than a year that there have been no line of duty deaths for first responders during an entire week.
Please, pray for all of the fallen military personnel and their family and friends in mourning.
