Today's Moment to Remember
... the 50th Space Shuttle mission - still had some pioneering firsts ...

On this date, September 12, in 1992, NASA launched its 50th shuttle mission with Space Shuttle Endeavour.  Eventhough this was the 50th time a shuttle went into space, it was full of many pioneering firsts - especially for crew members.  Onboard the shuttle was the first African-American woman in space, Mae Carol Jemison, the first Japanese citizen to fly in a US spaceship, Mamoru Mohri, and the first married couple in space, Mark Lee and Jan Davis.  The mission, which lasted 8 days, was focused on life and materials science experiments.
