Flag Steward, reinforcing its claim of the most accurate and comprehensive half-staffs listing, is the only site and/or app to honor the half-staff orders in California (State Capitol), Massachusetts (local) and Illinois (local) for fallen patriots (military and police). Flags Express, Flag Notify, Colonial Flag app, and Legacy all are missing these half-staffs.

On this date, August 25, in 1916, President Wilson signed the National Park Service Organic Act. The National Park Service (NPS) was born as and still is part of the U.S. Department of the Interior.
President Woodrow Wilson outlined the NPS mission: "to conserve the scenery and the natural and historic objects and wildlife therein, and to provide for the enjoyment of the same in such manner and by such means as will leave them unimpaired for the enjoyment of future generations."
Currently, the NPS has more than 20,000 employees managing 417 places, of which 59 are National Parks - including one our family visited this summer, Zion National Park in southwest Utah.
