On tomorrow's date, August 23rd, in 1970, Mexican-American labor union leader, César Chávez, began the Salad Bowl strike - the largest farm worker strike in U.S. history.  Chávez's aggressive, but nonviolent, farm workers' boycotts caught national attention and led to an improvement of migrant farm worker's conditions.
