All Flags ACROSS Alabama are half-staff
All Flags atop the California Capitol building are half-staff
And, local half-staffs are in NY and TX

Today's Moment to Remember

On this date, June 13, in 1085, Captain Meriwether Lewis, of the famed Lewis & Clarke Expedition, took a scout team ahead and discovered the Great Falls of the Missouri River.  They were 13 months into their grueling, historic trip across America's new land - the land stretching west of the Mississippi to the Pacific Ocean.  Upon this discovery in what is today, Montana, Meriwether wrote in his journal.  "When my ears were saluted with the agreeable sound of a fall of water and advancing a little further I saw the spray arise above the plain like a column of smoke.....began to make a roaring too tremendous to be mistaken for any cause short of the great falls of the Missouri."
These Falls became one of the icons (landmarks) featured in the State Seal of Montana.
