Today's Moment to Remember
On this date, June 10, in 1775, John Adams, then a Delegate of the Second Continental Congress, asked for the establishment of a Continental Army. Surprisingly, eventhough, the first battles of the Revolutionary War were up north, in Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts (pictured above), Adams requested George Washington of Virginia to lead the army. Why did he do this? Smartly, he knew that it would take a united set of colonies to defeat the British. And, farmer turned Army General, George Washington did just that - creating a Continental Army with members from all over the colonies who were disciplined and passionate about freedom.
