NATIONAL HALF-STAFF of US (and State) FLAGS until sunset today, Tuesday, June 4th.
So, raise all Flags, except VA State Flag, to full staff on Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
In Virginia, the VA State / Commonwealth Flag will remain at half-staff until sunset on Sat, June 8.

Today's Moment to Remember
On this date, June 4, in 1917, the first Pulitzer Prize award winners were announced. The Pulitzer Prize is given for superior achievement in what some may call 'literary arts' - newspaper, magazine, digital journalism, literature, and composing music. The award is named after Joseph Pulitzer, who created the award by leaving a significant part of his fortune to Columbia University to administer the program.
Today's Bizarre American Moment to Forget ;)
On this date, June 4, in 1855, Major Waye departed for the Middle East to buy camels for the new US Camel Corps. This US Army experiment, funded by the newly appointed Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis, was an attempt to prove that camels could be the Army's pack animal for operations in the desolate southwestern deserts of the US. The US Camel Corps fell short of expectations and was never fully adopted by the military - mostly because of the focus on the Civil War. The camel program was dropped and camels auctioned off in 1866 - 10 years after it started.
