Memorial Day
Fallen, but ...
National Half-Staff Alert for MEMORIAL DAY (May 27)
All Flagss ACROSS ALL 50 STATES is set at HALF-STAFF at sunrise and then is raised to FULL STAFF at 12p  (NOON)
Only in Massachusetts is there also a recently fallen sailor whose being commemorated by the MA half-staff until noon

Why is Our Flag raised to full staff at noon?

Reasons include:
In 1924, Congress codified the tradition with a proclamation reading, “For the nation lives, and the flag is a symbol of illumination.” It was through this proclamation that the noon flag raising became the symbol of persistence of the nation in the face of loss.

... then raised to full height from noon to sundown is a means of honoring those who died in battle during the morning, while the rest of the day is meant to honor the living veterans – recognizing those who have sacrificed and those who are still with us.

Today's Moment to Remember - Memorial Day
... One of the most informative and emotionally stirring Memorial Day videos I've ever seen ...
I was so touched by this video story, I felt compelled to make a hand-inscribed, story-telling iHonor Flag commemorating Dietrich (see below).  Now, I want to get into Villanueva's hands to thank him for sharing this story encouraging Americans to properly remember our military fallen on Memorial Day and empower Villanueva with a fitting gift for him to give to Dietrich's family (son, Kevin) or his alma mater HS to ensure his sacrifice is more widely known.  To that end, I need your help Fellow Flag Stewards...

If you have any recommendations on how to get this iHonor Flag (see below) commemorating Villanueva's fallen Army brother, SPC Jesse Dietrich, please fireback suggestions / connections you have to Staff@FlagSteward.org.  The Steelers have OTAs later this week, on the original Memorial Day, May 30th - a fitting day to receive Dietrich's iHonor Flag, but I don't want to just mail this to the Steelers have it lost.  This iHonor Flag will have a full story-telling tribute like others you've seen in the past week.

I will fly this iHonor Flag at half-staff at Flag Steward HQ tomorrow, Memorial Day, to honor SPC Dietrich and relay his inspiring story.

"Their sacrifice was great, but not in vain. All Americans and every free nation on earth can trace their liberty to the white markers of places like Arlington National Cemetery. And may God keep us ever grateful."
