[ Hank Aaron playing for the Milwaukee Braves in 1960 ]
On this date, April 23, in 1954, Hank Aaron hit the first of his record-setting 755 career homers. During his career he also was a: 25-time All-Star, 4-time Home Run and Runs Batted In (RBI) leader, National League Most Valuable Player (MVP in 1957), and World Series Champion (in 1957 with Milwaukee Braves)
Hank Aaron's advice to kids:
"I tell young people - including my granddaughter - there is no shortcut in life.
You have to take it one step at a time and work hard. And you have to give back."

Earlier this month, on April 9, the last Doolittle Raider passed away, retired Lieutenant Colonel Richard "Dick" Cole, at 103. He was co-pilot with Lt Col Doolittle as they led a bombing attack of Tokyo with 16 B-25 Mitchell bombers launched from aircraft carriers on April 18, 1942. GO HERE to read an Air Force Times article about their heroic mission and how it changed the outlook for the War in the Pacific during World War II.
