Unfortunately, there were 3 killed and 3 wounded in Global War on Terror combat zones last week.  Three Marines, Corporal Robert Hendriks, Sergeant Benjamin S. Hines, and Staff Sergeant Christopher K.A. Slutman assigned to the 25th Marine Regiment of the 4th Marine Division, Marine Forces Reserve, were killed, by a suicide car bomb, while on duty outside Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan on Monday, April 8th.  These Marine infantrymen were deployed to Georgia and then Afghanistan as part program for Marines to train Georgian infantry troops who assist them with the NATO mission in Afghanistan.  Cpl. Hendriks was called a "perfect son" by his dad.  Sgt. Hines was a leader who was known to "always put everyone else's needs first."  And, Staff Sgt. Slutman wore 2 uniforms - as a New York City Fireman  full-time and as a Marine Corps Reservist.  He was called "one of New York City's bravest" after being decorated for heroic firefighting work back in 2014.  He's survived by his wife and 3 daughters.
