Today's Moments to Remember
On this date, April 3, in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his last speech in Memphis, TN.  King was there to help end the Memphis Sanitation Strike.  He called for unity and nonviolent protesting to challenge Memphis to live up to America's ideals and civil rights.

Interestingly, he knew he was in danger of being killed for his civil rights actions and leadership.  His speech seemed to foretell of being assassinated soon.  [ Watch the end of his speech below ]
And, sure enough, the next day, in the evening of April 4, 1968, he was shot by James Earl Ray while standing on the second floor of a motel in Memphis.  The motel has since been converted into a Civil Rights Museum.
