Across the USA, Our Flag is at full staff, except in Alabama, California, and Illinois. And, Shreveport, LA is at half-staff.
[ Note: CA and IL half-staff end at sunset Fri, 1/18. While AL and Shreveport half-staffs end at sunset Sun, 1/20 ]

Half-Staff Flag Etiquette (Procedures):
Flag-raising at sunrise = hoist the Flags to full staff, then lower slowly, respectfully to half-staff
Flag-lowering at sunset = hoist Flags up from half-staff back to full-staff, then lower slowly, respectfully all the way down for removal
Official U.S. Flag Half-Staffs Today (Jan. 18th):
In ILLINOIS, the Governor ordered the US and State Flags at half-staff from Wed., Jan 16, to sunset on Fri., Jan 18, to honor Illinois State Police Trooper Christopher Lambert who was killed in the line of duty.
In ALABAMA, Governor Ivey ordered the US and State Flags to half-staff to honor Birmingham PD Officer, Sergeant Carter, who was shot and killed in the line of duty this weekend. The half-staff will remain until sunset, Sun, Jan. 20th.
In CALIFORNIA, the Governor ordered the US and State Flags, at the California Capitol complex, to half-staff on Fri, Jan. 11, to honor Davis PD Officer Corona, who was shot and killed in the line of duty, while assisting with a traffic accident, on Thursday night. She just became a police officer a few weeks ago.
[ Note: The CA Governor did not state the timing of this half-staff - 1 day or until her interment on 1/18? So, with her burial on Friday, 1/18, citizens of CA, should lower their US Flags to half-staff for 3 days - 2 days before and on the day of the interment. ]

In SHREVEPORT, Louisiana, the Mayor called for all Flags (US, State, and City Flags) to fly at half-staff to honor Shreveport, LA Police Officer Chateri Payne, who was shot and killed off-duty this weekend. The half-staff will remain until sunset on Sun, Jan. 20th

This Week's #NeverForgottenFriday Honorees
Sadly, at 720am and 814am this morning, Jan.18, the DoD (Department of Defense) reported that 3 US military service members, 1 DoD employee, and 1 civilian contractor were killed in Global War on Terror (GWOT) combat zones the past 2 days.
After being wounded by small arms fire on Sunday in the Badghis province of Afghanistan, US Army Ranger SGT Cameron Meddock, 26, serving with the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment from Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, died on Thursday, Jan. 17th, at the Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany.
And, from the suicide bomb attack on Wednesday in Manbij, Syria, the following fallen personnel have been identified:
- US Army Green Beret / Chief Warrant Officer 2 Jonathan Farmer 37, from Boynton Beach, Florida, serving with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
-US Navy Chief Cryptologic Technician Shannon Kent, 35, from upstate New York, serving with Cryptologic Warfare Activity 66, based out of Fort Meade, Maryland
-Department of Defense employee, and former Navy SEAL, Scott Wirtz, of St. Louis, Missouri, serving as an operations specialist with the Defense Intelligence Agency.
- 1 unidentified civilian contractor
