Today's Moment to Remember

... Liberty - it's just Common Sense according to Thomas Paine ...
On this date, Jan. 10, 1776, Common Sense, was anonymously published to encourage citizens of the Thirteen Colonies to fight for independence from British rule. The pamphlet was an immediate blockbuster hit, as folks scrambled to get their hands on it. It was read aloud at taverns and meeting places, like a church sermon, to persuade common people to rise up and become an independent country based on the equality of humankind.
Later, it was revealed that one of our Founding Fathers, Thomas Paine, wrote Common Sense - which at the time, and still is as a percentage of the population that owned it, the biggest selling and most widely circulated book in American history. Historian, Gordon Wood, calls Common Sense, "the most incendiary and popular pamphlet (book) of the entire revolutionary era."
