OTD, December 24th, in 1814, the 'Treaty of Ghent' was signed between the US and Great Britain. This peace agreement (treaty) ended the War of 1812 between the US and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. They agreed to restore the borders of each country to the way they were before the war. It took more than a month before news of the Treaty of Ghent reached all the US forces fighting.
