This Week's #NeverForgottenFriday Honorees
Unfortunately, there was one US service member killed in the Global War on Terror this past week in Afghanistan. US Army PFC Joshua Mikeasky, 19, of PA, with the 4th Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, from Ft Drum, NY, died in a non-combat related incident last week.
That brings the GWOT (Global War on Terror) death toll total to 6,959, from Oct. 2001 to now. In 2018, there have been 32 US armed forces members killed in GWOT ( 17 in Iraq and 15 in Afghanistan)
This past Saturday, Dec. 15th, was 'Wreaths Across America Day'
Citizens here at Colorado's Fort Logan National Cemetery and more than 1400 other locations across all 50 states placed more than 750,000 wreaths upon the graves of our Veterans. If you have not participated in this event or the placement of US Flags at Veterans tombs for Memorial Day, I highly recommend you do so. This simple, yet honorable act will stir your soul. And, it's a great opportunity to teach kids the values of gratitude, service, and liberty.
Wreath Across America truly lives up to its mantra:
REMEMBER our fallen US Veterans
HONOR those who serve
TEACH your children the value of freedom
