Star-Spangled Inspirational Quote
... is about today's Moment to Remember honorees - William Bradford and the Pilgrims ...
"I love the ideas of looking back to historical heroes to give us inspiration on how we can be today's heroes to move forward in the future. So guys like... William Bradford and William Wallace, the Bravehearts, the Patriots, the Pilgrims. There are so many of those people throughout history... whose stories have just never been told."
- Kirk Cameron

Today's Moment to Remember
... Mayflower Pilgrims landing at Plymouth ...

The records are not exact, but many state that December 21st of 1620, is the date that the first Mayflower ship passengers, known as Pilgrims, set foot upon land to establish the Plymouth Colony (within today's state of Massachusetts).  The Plymouth Rock, in Plymouth, Massachusetts, with a 1620 engraving is said to have been where the Pilgrims, and their leader William Bradford, first made landfall.  They did not settle upon the land that winter.  Instead, they stayed aboard the Mayflower as the men slowly built a few shelters while battling the New England winter weather.  Unfortunately, disease spread through the ship and only half of the 102 Pilgrims survived and began living within the Plymouth Colony in the spring of 1621.
Today's Slice of Americana - Movies

OTD, Dec. 20th in 1946, It's a Wonderful Life premiered at the Globe Theater in New York City. Initially it had mixed reviews and did not perform well at the box office.  But, over the years, it has been called by many as one of the best movies of all time - ranked the #1 most inspirational film (#11 overall) by the American Film Institute.

[  And, check out SNL's lost ending to 'It's a Wonderful Life' below -  ha, ha ;)  ]
