Today's Flag Status
Across the USA and its Territories, the US Flag flies at HALF-STAFF to honor the life and service of our 41st US President, George H. W. Bush, and will remain so until sunset on December 30th. And, there is an additional half-staff honoree in MA.
Across the USA and its Territories, the US Flag flies at HALF-STAFF to honor the life and service of our 41st US President, George H. W. Bush, and will remain so until sunset on December 30th. And, there is an additional half-staff honoree in MA.
In MASSACHUSETTS, the Governor has ordered the US and State Flags to continue to fly at half-staff with a concurrent tribute, until TBD, to fallen Firefighter Christopher Roy of the Worchester Fire Department. He died in the line of duty while fighting a blaze on Sunday, Dec. 9th.
Today's Historical Moment to Remember
On this date, December 10th in 1950, Dr. Ralph Bunche became the first African-American presented with the Nobel Peace Prize. He was awarded for his efforts in negotiating peace between Israel and nearby Arab countries. He also participated in the development and management of the United Nations. And, in 1963, he attended MLK's March on Washington for Freedom and Jobs and was given the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President John F. Kennedy.
