Today's Historical Moment to Remember

... an amazing American businessman and charity donor ...
On this date, November 25th, in 1835, Andrew Carnegie was born Scotland. He emigrated to America in 1848 and became a telegraph worker. He saved and invested his money in railroad and oil companies. He made enough from his savings and investments to build the Carnegie Steel Company. When he sold his steel company in 1901, he was one the richest persons ever. At that time, thankfully, his thoughts turned away from making money and turned towards making donations to help others. He followed his own advice that "The man who dies rich dies disgraced." As a major philanthropist (donor of his wealth to help others), he funded 2,500 libraries across America, as well as, the Carnegie Hall, a very famous performing arts hall in NYC, the Carnegie Foundation, and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. His actions began an era of the wealthy giving donations to help fix societal issues.
