Pre-Pledge Tribute
This Week's #NeverForgottenFriday Honoree
Thankfully, there were no US service member casualties in the Global War on Terror this past week.
So, we're taking a moment to pay tribute to President John F. Kennedy, who was killed 55 years ago, on November 22, 1963.
JFK was a WWII, Purple Heart recipient Navy Veteran.
[Note: He's pictured above, then a Navy LT(JG) with his PT boat crew in 1943]
Today's Historical Moment to Remember
... JFK assassinated ...
On November 22, in 1963, as President John F. Kennedy's motorcade moved through downtown Dallas, JFK was assassinated. After being shot in the back and then in the head, he was rushed to Parkland Memorial Hospital where fifteen doctors tried to save him. Unfortunately, he didn't survive and was pronounced dead. About an hour later, Vice President, Lyndon B. Johnson, aboard Air Force One, was sworn in as the 36th President.
