On this date (OTD), Oct 2nd, in 1967, Thurgood Marshall was sworn-in as a Supreme Court Justice - the first African-American to serve in our nation's highest court. He was known for supporting civil rights and opposing discrimination and the death penalty. He served until 1991.
[ Marshall led the Brown v. Board of Education case all the way to victory in the Supreme Court ]
