On September 28, 1791, the Battle of Yorktown began at Yorktown, VA.  American and French troops joined forces to fight the British at this important battle.  This turned out to be the last major clash of the Revolutionary War because British General Cornwallis surrendered his army to General George Washington a few weeks later.

On this date (OTD), September 28, in 1951, CBS starts selling the first color televisions.
Hard to believe this given today's overabundance of technology.  But, less than a month later, CBS stopped sales because people weren't buying enough TVs to keep the business going.
