​This morning, Nevada's Governor ordered the US and State Flags in Nevada to half-staff until sunset on Saturday, August 11, to honor former Governor and US Senator Paul Lexalt.

Today's Historical Reminder
... a second A-bomb to end the war ...

Nagasaki - before (top) and after (bottom) the atomic bomb, "Fat Man," was dropped on Nagasaki, Japan. 
 On this date, August 9, 1945, at least 40,000 people were killed and another 60,000 injured by the atomic explosion and its after-effects.  This bombing effectively ended WWII by forcing Japan to surrender.  VJ Day officially came just a few weeks later.
