Today's Flag Status
Our Flag flies at FULL STAFF in 49 of the 50 states.  It's at HALF-MAST in Wisconsin.
In Wisconsin, the US and State Flags fly at half-staff to honor Officer Michael Michalski of the Milwaukee Police Department who was killed in the line of duty.  They will remain so until the day of his interment on Aug 1st.
Women to Honor Wednesday
... Commemorates the US Navy's first female Admiral ...

This past Saturday, retired Navy Rear Admiral Alene Duerk, the Navy's first female to reach a flag officer / admiral rank, passed away at the age of 98.  She was promoted to Rear Admiral back in 1972 while serving as Director of the Navy Nurse Corps.  Her career spanned 4 decades of service during 3 wars (WWII, Korean, and Vietnam Wars).  She humbly stated this about her career and recognition as the first female admiral, "It was a nice distinction to have, and to be recognized as the first, but I wanted to make certain that I used that notoriety to do as much positive as I could."

For 'End of Watch Wednesday'

Like last week's 'End of Watch Wednesday,' sadly, we had 4 Police Officers who were killed in the line of duty between July 22 - 28.
[from left to right]
Officer Diego Moreno of the Kent Police Department (Washington) was killed during a vehicle pursuit
State Trooper (and Navy Veteran) Tyler Edenhofer of the Arizona Public Safety Department was shot and killed during an arrest struggle
Officer Michael Michalski of the Milwaukee Police Department was shot and killed while trying to arrest a wanted man
Police Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller of the Fort Myers Police Department died on July 28th from a gunshot wound sustained while responding to an assault on July 21st.

Please, pray for these officers and their friends and family in mourning.
