Today's Flag Status
Our Flag flies at full staff across the USA, except in Washington, Wisconsin, and North Carolina

In Washington, the US and State Flags are lowered on Tuesday, July 31, to half-staff in memory Officer Moreno, who was killed in the line of duty on July 22, 2018.
In North Carolina, the US and State Flags have been ordered to half-staff, for July 30 and 31, to honor former University of North Carolina System President C.D. Spangler.
In Wisconsin, the US and State Flags fly at half-staff to honor Officer Michael Michalski of the Milwaukee Police Department who was killed in the line of duty. They will remain so until the day of his interment on Aug 1st.

Interesting Flag-delivery story: When I hand-delivered the Panorama Wellness & Sports Institute's Interactive American Flag, I knew something touching about this program was affecting their Director, Corey Townsend. After I explained our nonprofit's program, she informed me that she knew Chris Falkel. She attended ThunderRidge HS with him and his brother. She knew the cross-street for their workout facility was named in honor of Chris, but she also believed 90% their members had no clue about the man behind their cross-street. So, Susie accepted the challenge to change to that.

On this date (OTD), July 31, in 1790, the first U.S. patent was issued to Samuel Hopkins. It was signed by then President George Washington, President, and Attorney General for the United States Edmund Randolph approving and protecting Hopkins' invention for a potash process.
